  1. I used this tool today. However, when I checked manually the sites I bookmarked were not found in any of the services, EXCEPT for propeller which I was prompted for manually.

    Shouldn’t the url that is bookmarked show up once it is bookmarked using your tool? I checked my google bookmarks account, my delicious account, my SU account and could not find a single one of the pages that I had bookmarked using your tool.

    What am I doing wrong?

  2. Darlene, at the step where you’ve seen Propeller there are some ‘Back’ and ‘Next’ buttons which will guide you through all of the selected social bookmarking services.

    I hope this solves your issue.

  3. I seem to be having a problem getting the SocialMarker button on to a tool bar. It sounds easy. “All you need to do is simply drag this button SocialMarker.com to your bookmarks toolbar”. I can drag it, but there is no where that I can drag it too. I have Fire Fox (which is what it says that I need). Am I missing something?

  6. I’m having a small problem. I’ve installed the code into my wordpress post, but when I view the site live, the button appears with a link next to it that says ’social Bookmarking’. If I click on the actual button it takes me to an error page (error 404-not found). If I click on the hyper link next to the button it does take me to socialmarker.

    I’ve done it several times, and followed the video. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    For Wordpress please download the plugin found here: http://www.socialmarker.com/plugin/all-in-one-bookmarking-button.zip
    and copy the contents of the zip file in the wp-content/plugins folder on the server where Wordpress is installed.

    After that it’s just a matter of activating the plugin from the Wordpress admin area.

    The bookmarking button will be added after every post.

    When I drag the bookmarklet icon to my Firefox bookmarks toolbar I don’t get the words “SocialMarker” placed on my toolbar like in your video. What I get placed on my toolbar is the following:

    When I click on this link I still get taken to the Social Marker page, so it’s working OK, but why am I getting the javascript code left on my toolbar as the button rather than the name of your site? It takes up so much room! If you can’t tell me how to fix this I’m going to have to delete it.

Ok, i found this social marker, but i am kinda lost as to what it is and how it works… i mean from what i see here, it looks and sounds like something that could be useful for me in promoting my website, but… i don’t quite get it… am i missing something here? also, i use a mac os x computer running fire fox. can i still use this?

    please try and help me understand this a little better…. i must be having a brain fart or something…. LOL :)

    Adding the button to the firefox toolbar is okay.
    It’s the wordpress thing i can’t figure out. I’m having difficulty with the
    ” copy the contents of the zip file in the wp-content/plugins folder on the server where Wordpress is installed.

    I have downloaded the zip on my desktop.
    it contains three folders: class.autokeyword, readme and socialmarker-button
    What do i do from here?
    What server?

  12. Will this ever be available for Internet Explorer? I like Firefox, but it’s a pain in the “you know what” to switch everything I’ve ever done to a different browser. I prefer to use one type of browser (if possible). Thanks & great idea!

  13. I installed this in my WordPress blogs without any problems, but I also have 4 Blogger blogs that I’d like to paste the code into (which it says to cut & paste the html coe into the blog or site… if not WordPress).

    My question is… where should I paste the code into my Blogger blogs… so the bookmark tool appears at the bottom of each new post (just like it does in WordPress). I’m hoping it can behave just like the widget does in WordPress (and not just be a static button in the sidebar of Blogger blogs).

    I hope the makes sense… and look forward to getting a solution… from anyone. Thanks!

    You need to upload the .zip file to your web hosting account… for each domain name (i.e. http://www.yoursitename.com/blog).

    Using the above site name structure as an example.

    1. Log into your hosting account,
    2. find the upload (or file manager tool),
    3. click-through each of the following folders in order (and be sure to click the folder icons NOT the file names):

    4. public_html,
    5. blog,
    6. wp-content,
    7. plugins

    8. Select the UPLOAD feature,
    9. browse to your desktop,
    10. select the .zip file to be uploaded,

    11. then extract the contents of the .zip file (after it’s uploaded into the plugins folder)

    12. Sign out of your file manager.
    13. Log into your WordPress Blog admin,
    14. then follow the activation steps from within your WordPress blog.

  17. Yeah, I finally figured it out.installing the plugin was easy as
    I only had to upload it to my server where the plugins were supposed
    to be put.It wasn’t enough to just press the social marker button and
    press ’submit’. You have to sign up with all of the bookmarking sites first and then when you want to submit an article,press the social marker button,enter all your tags then press next so you can enter your login details so you can submit the article to each bookmaking site.

    I am would very much like to use this tool. Do i need to go to each and every bookmarking site and register before I can use this tool?

    I hear that some bookmarking sites do not allow the use of submission tools. Do all the 29 bookmarking sites that you submit to, allow submission tools?

  19. Yes, there are sites that do not allow the use of submission tools, but all those that SocialMarker has listed work.

    Before you can submit news you have to register at all those services, but you can do that on the fly while using SocialMarker.

  22. my firefox browser crashes frequently so i normally don’t use it.

    however, i did drag the button onto firefox and the submit process seemed to be working ok…until firefox crashed as per normal.

    i understand SM will work in IE.

    can i install SM button onto IE ? the button feature would be such a time saver.

    logged in to digg & did a URL search for some of my vids.

    nothing came up.

    starting to wonder…do i need to register with each of the 31 social bookmarking sites individually?

    All the feedback is read, and we’re collecting the most numerous requests for implementation.

    So, now what? I really want to use this service to enhance my blog, ’cause it’s so nifty. What do wordpress users do?

  26. Joe, you can add the button to Favorites in Internet Explorer and it will work as expected.

    Yes you do have to register with those services first.

    Charlotte, I would like to help but I have never used the online version of wordpress. Maybe some of the readers around here can enlighten us?

    I used the social marker submission form and was able to successfully submit to Propeller.com but did not use the “next” and “back” buttons.(coz I had no idea what to do next)I don’t know if I was able to submit to the other sites that I chose (I think I was not able to), what do you suggest?

    started using your social bookmarker and its a breeze! Only thing is I seem to have to login to every service (not just signing up) everytime
    I submit a site. Is that the idea or should social marker be remembering my passwords? Any workarounds to fill in the passwords automatically - roboform does not seem to work within this system.
    It takes me about an hour to go through all the sites for 1 submission, which is great but not fantastic :-)

  30. Some of the sites open up the page that is being submitted and therefore you need to use the back button and then click through
    to the last submission.Even if your up to the 20th site.Is there a
    way to avoid this.I tried both new window and new tab but neither fixed the issue.

  31. I have read the FAQ and lots of the replies were helpful thanks but I am still a bit confused perhaps someone can help me out here, from beginning to end, is this what I need to do to use this service?

    1. Install the button into my plugins (I am ok with doing that).
    2. Register with all 31 sites?
    3. Write a blog article and then do I click the button that will appear with my article?
    4. And that then takes me to each site, where I have to put in my password for each one again?

    I think I am unclear on what the bookmarlet does for me.. sorry, very new to this so not meaning to be rude.. I know this is meant to save me time but I don’t see anywhere lists with a step by step guide on how I make that all happen.

    Can anyone unconfuse me please?

  32. Will this plug in on WordPress automatically post my new entry when I create a new one, or do I have to create it then click the button to submit it to the social sites? A little confused to how this works. I believe AutoSocial Poster does post to the social site automatically, just wondering if this one does too.

  33. Wow! That was SO easy! The video was killer and I submitted 2 of my sites in less than 10 minutes. My question…can you select different text from your websites and submit unlimited times? Or are you limited to just one selection of text for each website?

  34. Im using Internet Explorer, got button added to favorites, trying to only use ‘dofollow’ 17 sites. When trying to submit for the first time to FURL, it did not recognize my login info??? Was able to submit to several, not all 17 that I signed up for?? Any tips? Thanks.

  35. Will the code for the SocialMarker button work on my Drupal site?

    When I paste it into my footer section, it appears just fine, but it does not paste the “Title” or the “URL LINK” details into the “Bookmark” details box. It will only past the “embed - etc” code as written.

    Is this a problem? Or it this how it is supposed to be and somehow (beyond me) the Title and Page URL will be transferred to all of the social bookmarking sites? Please help. Thanks.

    You need to drag the button to your bookmarks toolbar, or favorites if you use Internet Explorer.

    The video for using the Submit form is great. How about a step-by-step tutorial from start-to-finish for we SB newbies?

  41. Well, yes, you have to register to all the sites you want to submit to and you can do it staight from social marker by clicking the register button for each of the sites.

  44. hi. I wanted to add plugins in our website and i tried uploading it in wp-content/plugins of wordpress.org but when I activate it, all i see after refreshing it is the header of our site and the blog title. any comments or suggestions on why this happens?

    I assume that if I try I will get zapped, because your widget calls javascript.

    If there is no way, you might consider creating a plugin. Just think, you would then be the ONLY way to social bookmark any of the millions of myspace pages.

    I just finished Caro’s (Ed Dale 30DC) video on creating and social marking a HubPage. When I went to SocialMark Propeller, I received this error: This domain has been banned for the following reason: “pr0n spam”.

    At first I had 2 links in the copy to my blog, and also an RSS feed. Then I removed the 2 links and only have the RSS feed. Ed Dale said we could have only 1 link, and I now don’t even have that and still get the above error.

    How can I get accepted by Propeller for social marking?
